During this month, other cases were reported, and so far, 79 people have been registered with this case, between the ages of 2 and 96, with the same symptoms. The events are now taking place in several neighborhoods in the capital of Pernambuco, according to Sisao.
“The period of symptom onset of reported cases varied between October 1 and November 11. There is no record of hospitalizations or exacerbations of cases yet,” Sisao says in a note.
The Secretariat confirms that given the number of cases, an epidemiological alert has been issued so that the public and private health units will notify the Strategic Information Center on Health Surveillance (Cievs) in Recife as soon as they receive a suspected case. The most common signs and symptoms are skin lesions and itching (pruritus).
According to Sisao, the cases were discussed with the medical team, in order to clarify this case. The secretariat adds that “epidemiological, entomological and laboratory investigations are underway.”
