The Pulitzer Prize for News Photography was presented to The Associated Press on Monday (8), in recognition of a collection of impressive images from the war in Ukraine.
The winning set of photos included a photo of emergency workers carrying a pregnant woman (who later died) across the devastated grounds of a maternity hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol after a Russian attack.
It showed Butcha’s last month-long occupation of Russia, in a still life: a dog standing next to the corpse of an elderly woman who had been murdered.
Another captured an old woman kneeling in agony beside her son’s coffin at Mikulychye Cemetery on the outskirts of Kiev.
