Shiv Breaks Lynette Woodard’s Record for Most Career Points in Women’s College Basketball – CNN

University of Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark has made history by surpassing Lynette Woodard for the most points scored in major women’s college basketball history. Clark broke Woodard’s record by scoring an impressive 33 points in a blowout win over the University of Minnesota.

Woodard, who played for Kansas from 1977 to 1981 under the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, held the previous record that Clark has now exceeded. Clark has expressed her admiration for players like Woodard who laid the foundation for women’s sports, acknowledging their contributions to the growth of women’s basketball.

Prior to breaking Woodard’s record, Clark became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women’s basketball. During the same game where she surpassed Woodard, Clark also broke the single-season record for three-pointers made. She achieved her 17th career triple-double, further solidifying her status as one of the top players in women’s college basketball.

Clark now has her sights set on breaking Pete Maravich’s record for all-time scoring in NCAA men’s and women’s basketball in the last game of the regular season. She is looking forward to a highly competitive March tournament and is focused on performing at her best as she continues to make headlines in the world of women’s sports.
