In recent days, the news fell like a heartbreaking bombshell that striker Vitor Roque, one of the most prominent stars of Atletico Paranaense and in the Barcelona goal, was dismissed from the base of Sao Paulo when he was younger and that he played as a defender in the tricolor team.

However, the story was not quite like that.

In an interview with TNT Sports, in May this year, the Atlético forward explained what his “time” with the Sao Paulo team was like and why he was sacked.

I started [jogando] Behind the wheel of my city [Timóteo-MG]. At nine years old, I made a sieve in São Paulo. At that time there were sieves in the city and people from São Paulo went there to see the children of the city. Then I was behind the wheel, but there was a defender missing and they put me in centre-back. But then I didn’t know anything. [da posição] The 18-year-old striker explained.

Only a few years later Vitor Roque’s scoring streak was discovered by a coach from Coelho.

“Then shortly after that I was in America as a defensive midfielder. The other year the coach put me in a midfielder and I played for two years. [na posição]. The coach changed and told me I was too strong and he preferred [ter]I’m closer to the goal. Then he became the center of the attack.”

According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, Barcelona has reached an agreement with Hurricane to hire Vitor Roque, and the Catalan team will pay about 40 million euros (about 210 million Brazilian riyals) for the striker.

It is worth noting that another young player of the moment who also had a short stint at Sao Paulo was striker Andric from Palmeiras.

The 16-year-old, already sold to Real Madrid, had a spell at Tricolor when he was 11 years old, but left the team and settled with the rival, as he did not receive an offer that the family considered a good one.

After being defeated by arch-rivals Palmeiras in the last match before stopping the FIFA date, Sao Paulo seeks to recover in Brazil next Wednesday, when it receives a visit from Atletico Paranaense, in Morumbi, in the match that will start at 7 pm (Brasilia time).) It is valid for the eleventh round of the national competition.

Vitor Roc should play for Paraná.
