From November 1, WhatsApp will restrict access to the instant messaging app. The change will affect app users who own Android phones with an older version. Thus, any cell phone running 4.0.4 and earlier will not be able to use the app.

Mobile phones can no longer access WhatsApp

From November 1, WhatsApp will be compatible with the following platforms:

  • Android 4.1 and up
  • iOS 10 and above
  • Some models with KaiOS 2.5.1

Therefore, not all mobile phones with a version older than the ones mentioned above will be able to access WhatsApp. Check some mobile devices that won’t run the instant messaging app anymore.

How do you know the Android version

If your cell phone is not mentioned, but you want to see the version of your Android system, you can find out the version of the operating system by accessing the settings option, see:

Iphone

  1. Access the menu Settings;
  2. Select option general;
  3. click in On;

Samsung

  1. Select the option from the list Settings;
  2. Select option About phone;
  3. Select option Program information;
  4. Scroll down until you find the option Android version.
