Last Friday (15/7), the National Electric System Operator (ONS) released data on energy production in the national territory in recent weeks and announced that Wind Energy Immediate generation record in northeastern Brazil. The record was set during the high winds season, which occurs annually and allows resource-producing companies to take advantage of the high production potential to expand electricity generation using wind energy.

ONS data shows that wind power set a record for spot generation in July in the Northeast, driven by the high winds season.

The Northeast continues to assert its presence on the national scene in the field of renewable energy production, due to the favorable geographical location of this generation. This is because the high winds season in the region made it possible for wind energy to reach a new peak of instant generation in July of this year and to reach a record level.

This data was released last Friday by the Office for National Statistics, which highlighted the importance of this period for the production of the resource. Thus, the National Bureau of Statistics announced that wind power was responsible for producing 14,167 megawatts of power on the eighth, in the resource’s instantaneous generation model.

For the purposes of comparison regarding the significance of this figure, such a total could supply the entire northeastern region of the country, and there would still be a surplus of 23.2% of the generated power. Thus, the impressive results in the immediate generation of energy in the region reinforce the importance of the Northeast in the energy sector and the need for new investments to take advantage of these resources.

The high winds season is a phenomenon that occurs every year in the northeastern region of Brazil and boosts wind energy production. This is because during the winter months, between July and October, the northeastern states notice an increase in the quality and intensity of winds, due to sea currents.

Thus, wind energy production companies are taking advantage of this moment to focus their efforts on improving the production process, in order to ensure the highest levels of immediate energy generation, as seen in the month of July.

The immediate generation of wind energy ensures good results this week accompanied by solar energy, which has also managed to stand out in the country

The month of July has already started very productive and mainly profitable for companies producing renewable energy in Brazil, especially those in the northeastern region of the country, due to the high winds season.

In addition to the impressive results in the immediate generation of wind energy on the eighth, the National Bureau of Statistics also revealed that solar energy also managed to stand out strongly last week throughout the national territory.

This is because during last Tuesday (12), at 10:28 am, instant generation of 2,963 MW was recorded, an amount equal to 27.5% of the demand for the entire Northeast subsystem for that minute. Solar energy is part of the significant energy production potential in the region, and this figure has highlighted the importance of this sector to the profitability of the country.

Learn more about the Operator of the National Electrical System (ONS)

The ONS, or the Operator of the National Electrical System, is the body responsible for coordinating and controlling the operation of electricity generation and transmission facilities in the National Interconnected System (SIN) throughout the national territory.

In this way, the agency is conducting a series of studies and legal tasks across the country to ensure the proper management of electricity production, also focusing on the field of renewable energy.
