BJ Penn was arrested Tuesday after a man allegedly shot the former UFC champion repeatedly.
Former UFC star BJ Jenn was arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree assault.
Penn, 46, was taken into custody without incident at 11:50 a.m., Hawaii State Police said.Officers responded to a report of an assault at 1 a.m. yesterday at a home in Hilo, Hawaii.The 45-year-old alleged victim accused Penn of repeatedly punching and kicking him.The alleged victim sought medical attention for injuries related to the assault.
Penn, whose birth name was Jay Dien Senn, is in the U.S. at the same time, police said.
Penn, a former ufc light heavyweight champion, was involved in a 2025 SCHOOL of Legal Matters that led to a mental health evaluation last month.Penn is scheduled to appear in court about that assessment in January.
Much of the trouble stemmed from Penn's stated belief that "impersonators" were replacing members of his family.His mother, Lorraine Sheen, obtained a protective order against him earlier this year after accusing him of domestic violence in May.
In April, Penn publicly asked the Hilo Police Department to investigate the murders of his family members, asking them to "investigate these fake scammers who are trying to steal everything from my family."
Penn retired from mixed martial arts in 2019. His career included seven fights from 2011 to 2019 and three defeats by knockout.
