Taking a cold shower at the gym or taking a cold shower has become a popular practice in recent years. But is all that freezing you're giving yourself really good for you? It promises to improve your mood, provide mental clarity and reduce muscle soreness after a workout, which sounds tempting, but it's not for everyone. Aside from the teeth chattering, there are some positives and negatives to consider.
I reluctantly jumped into the fray earlier this year to check out the latest slump pools.With my adrenaline pumping and my endorphins pumping at the disco after a dive, I was hooked and later became an ice bath advocate.But as with any health interest, it's worth following the ever-changing advice on best practices.Wanting to learn more, I asked leading biohacker and founder of The Ultimate Human, Gary Barca, for advice on how to take a cold dive for maximum benefit.

What is cold?

Cold showers trigger some of the same effects. But full immersion in cold water is more effective because it hits a larger surface area and lowers core temperature faster. Showers are a good entry point, but a dive is a deeper treatment."
