Ukraine says 436 bodies recovered in city, from which 30 were recovered, bearing signs of torture | Globalism
2 min readThe governor of Kharkiv, the region where the municipality is located, said Friday, that the Ukrainian authorities exhumed the remains of 436 bodies buried in a forest near the town of Izyum, and 30 of them showed signs of torture.
“The majority (of the corpses) show signs of violent death, and 30 show signs of torture,” Oleg Senegubov said in Telegram.
According to him, there are bodies with rope around, hands tied, limbs broken or gunshot wounds, and the genitals of several men have been amputated. He says this is evidence of torture.
New allegations of Russian crimes: the United Nations wants to investigate the Izium massacre
In mid-September, hundreds of graves and a mass grave were discovered near the town of Izyum, which had been under Russian occupation for several months until it was recaptured by Kyiv’s forces.
Ukrainian police said they also found torture rooms in the area.

Russian forces are accused of multiple violations in the Ukrainian territory they managed to control, especially in Bucha, on the outskirts of Kyiv, where civilian bodies were found in the streets after they withdrew from the area in late March.
Moscow denies committing these crimes and has described the discovery of the tombs at Izyum as a lie.
