(CNN) – It’s been a long time, neighbor.
The Canadian government has banned Americans from making unnecessary trips since March 2020 due to the Govt-19 epidemic. But when Canada opens its borders on Monday, August 9, it will shift leisure travel from its southern neighbors.
If you want to go on vacation, here’s a question and answer guide to help Americans cross the border smoothly:
Question: Who will be eligible for an unwanted trip to Canada from Monday?
U.S. citizens and permanent residents must be fully vaccinated to enter Canada.

Answer: Admission is currently open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents residing in the United States, traveling from the United States and being fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to entering Canada for non-essential trips.
In order to be fully vaccinated, travelers must have received the full range of the Govt-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada at least 14 days prior to entering Canada.
Currently, those vaccines are being manufactured by:
– AstraZeneca / Covishield
– Johnson (Johnson & Johnson)
Passengers should be vaccinated in both doses in English or French (or with a certified translation, original) if applicable. Travelers can get vaccinated in any country.
Question: Where can they enter Canada?

Answer: Flights from the United States will land at Canadian airports from August 9.
– Calgary International Airport
– Edmonton International Airport
– Halifax Stanfield International Airport
-Montreal-Trudeau International Airport
-Ottawa / McDonald-Cartier International Airport
– Quebec City Jean Lasage International Airport
– Toronto Pearson International Airport
– Vancouver International Airport
– Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport
Fully vaccinated Americans can enter Canada across many land borders.
Question: What are the entry requirements?
Passengers must also meet pre-entry test requirements.
All travelers 5 or older must show proof of a negative result of the Covit-19 molecular test taken within 72 hours of arriving in Canada, or evidence of a positive Covit-19 molecular test taken between 14 and 180 days between August 9th. Before their arrival.

In addition, travelers must:
Be asymptomatic when you arrive
Keep a paper or digital copy of the proof of vaccination in English or French
– Have an appropriate isolation plan if isolation is necessary.
The final determination of entry eligibility and isolation requirements will be made by a government official at the border, based on information provided upon entry into Canada.
Using a new border check monitoring program at airports and land border crossings, vaccinated passengers do not need a post-arrival check unless they are randomly selected to complete the first day of the Covit-19 molecular test. However, all travelers arriving in Canada must meet pre-arrival check requirements.
Question: Should Americans Be Isolated Once They Come to Canada?
Answer: Fully vaccinated passengers who meet the requirements will be exempt from isolation.
However, all passengers must provide an isolation plan and be prepared to be isolated if it is determined at the border that they do not meet the required requirements.
They should also be prepared if they know that someone they have traveled or exposed to will get a positive result from the attendance test.
Question: Should Americans stay in a hotel approved by the government?
Answer: All passengers arriving on the flight on August 9 will be required to stay in a three-night, government-approved hotel.
Question: Can my unvaccinated children enter Canada with me?
Answer: Children under 12 years of age who are not vaccinated will no longer have to complete 14 days of isolation with fully vaccinated parents and / or guardians, but will have to follow improved public health practices.
This means they can go with their parents but should avoid group settings such as camping or day care during the first 14 days after they arrive.
Children who have not been vaccinated should still be tested for Covit-19 on day 1 and day 8.
First day test means a test on the day you arrive. However, not all land boundaries are tested on site. Depending on where you are going, you may be tested there or given a test kit to do at home under the supervision of a nurse by video call.
Regions and territories may have more stringent rules around people who have recently returned from travel.
Question: Do individual provinces, territories or cities establish their own rules?
Question: How busy are the popular Canadian tourist sites when Americans cross the border and go on vacation there?
Lake Turquoise Moraine in Banff National Park is no less than awe-inspiring.
Answer: Historically, the United States is Canada’s largest incoming market, delivering nearly 15 million visits in 2019.
Tourists are expected to return not only to major Canadian cities such as Vancouver, Toronto, Quebec City and Montreal, but also to Canadian natural wonders:
– Niagara Falls
– Banff National Park in Alberta
– Northern Lights in the Northwest Territories
23 beaches on Prince Edward Island
– The Bay of Funds in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick is home to some of the highest waves in the world.

Answer: Additional border measurement adjustments may be considered by the Government of Canada as evidence and epidemiological conditions develop in Canada and globally.
