Stellandis and Samsung STI are preparing to build a new battery factory for electric cars in Indiana, USA. In October, the companies signed a joint venture to manufacture lithium-ion batteries in North America, scheduled for 2025.

The plant has an initial annual production capacity of 23 gigawatt-hours and is likely to increase to 40 gigawatt-hours in the future. The unit will be located in the same US state where Chrysler maintains several facilities to expand production of electric vehicles.
