The American women’s soccer team attempted to capture a bronze medal at the Olympics. Here is the latest

Megan Robino and Carly Lloyd each scored a pair of goals at the Tokyo Olympics and the United States beat Australia 4-3 to win the bronze medal.

It was the best the Americans had ever seen during a rock match that started with an unusual 3-0 loss to Sweden. Robinho set the tone early on with a goal scored directly from a corner kick.

The loss ruined the Australians’ first trip to the medal round at the Olympics. No Australian football team, men or women has ever won a medal.

Modildas is the World Cup champion who came to Japan in anticipation of the World No. 1 team and the fifth gold medalist, the loser against the United States. But the Americans struggled at times during the tournament, losing 1-0 to Canada in the semifinals. Canadians have not defeated their North American counterparts since 2001.

The American team that came out against Australia was completely different.

Robinho scored in the eighth minute with a corner kick to give the Americans an early lead. This is the second time Robinho has scored an Olympic because the goals are known from angles: he was also in the semi-finals of the 2012 Olympics against Canada.

Sam Kerr scored a goal for the Australians in the 17th minute past US goalkeeper Adriana Franois.

France got their first start in a big match, replacing Alyssa Nehru, who injured her right knee during the US team’s semi-final defeat to Canada.

At just 27 years old, Kerr is Australia’s all – time leading scorer with 48 goals. He led all the remaining scorers in the match with six goals.

Robinho’s second goal came on a stunning volley on the 21st, and it was clear that defender Ellie Carpenter, who had been handed a red card, was missing when the Australians lost 1-0 in the semi – finals to Sweden.

Lloyd made it 3-1 when he was stopped in the first half as his left-footed shot went past Australia goalkeeper Deacon Micah. He added another at a break in the 51st minute, setting a U.S. record of 10 career Olympic goals.

Lloyd made his 312nd appearance for the national team in this tournament, finishing second to Christie Rampon of all time. Christine Lilly tops the career list with 354.

Lloyd will play 39 and his last major match. When she was replaced in the 81st minute, the team ran to offer a handshake and hi-fives, and the bench gave her an applause.

Caitlin Ford scored Emily Gailnick’s 90th goal for Australia in the 54th minute.

Alex Morgan was injured during the break and had to help off the field. She appeared to have an injury to her left leg, but there was no immediate information about her condition.

The Australians had already met the United States at the Tokyo Olympics, putting the Americans in a scoreless draw in the final of the group stage. Australia were the only Swedes to score in the group stage, leading up to Friday’s gold medal match against Canada.

The U.S. team’s opening defeat to Sweden was a 44-match unbeaten run. The scoreless draw with Australia came after the rematch against New Zealand. In the quarterfinals, the United States beat the Netherlands in a penalty shootout.

But they were thwarted by their Canadian rivals in their attempt to become the first team to win the Olympics after the World Cup. Jesse Fleming scored from the penalty spot in the 74th minute.

The United States has won five gold medals at the Olympics. The Americans have won four more gold medals than any other team since women’s football became an Olympic sport in 1996.

But this is the second Olympics in which they have failed to win a gold medal. They were defeated by Sweden in the quarterfinals five years ago in Brazil.
