247 – This Wednesday, November 24, marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991, a victim of AIDS. Mercury is best known for his strong voice and leader of the British rock band Queen, who created rock music with elements of opera and which influenced many people with over 200 million albums sold;

Mercury was born on Zanzibar, an island in Tanzania, under the baptismal name Farrukh Bulsara, in 1946, when the country was still a colony of England. Still young, he went to London, after the revolution in the African country expelled his family.

In the English capital, he met Brian May (guitar), John Deacon (bass), and Roger Taylor (percussion) and formed the band Queen. The group has composed songs among the most influential in the world of rock music, such as Bohemina Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Other One Bites the Dust, among others.

More so, Quinn created the rock opera style and is today considered one of the greatest rock bands that ever lived.
