Acting as an adaptation of Maggie O'Farrell's novel
Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley walked the red carpet at the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin for the Irish premiere of Hamnet on Saturday night.
The film "Brutally Raw" is the secret of Chloe Zhao's Book by Chloe Zhao: The novel of Maggie O'Farrell's disease. It will be released in Irish cinemas in January.
O'Farrell, who was born in Derry, said it was "absolutely heartwarming" to appear in the dub of Absolute. He is proud to bring back the characters of Buckley and Moskal.“I think they deserve it,” he said.
Buckley and Meskel were both nominated for Golden Globes for their roles as Agnes Hathaway and William Shakespeare.
Hamet tells the story of Shakespeare's marriage to Annaway.
"What struck me was that the woman who accepted the crisis, was a strong woman, there was a strong mother in her," said Shod Buckley.
Mescal admires Shakespeare's life as a family man most in Hamnet: “I found it incredibly inspiring that he was so confused in terms of emotion.and how devoted he was to his love with Agnes. It was quite warm but incredible. There is genuine confidence in the way he expresses himself. And I think that takes a lot of courage,” he said.
Will it retain these features in the future?"I hope so," he said, laughing.
The death of their child, Hamlet, is said to have inspired Shakespeare's play Hamlet.
In a rare five-star film review, The Irish Times critic Donald Clarke wrote that far from "tragic vulgarity", the film artfully balances tragic sadness with "stern dignity".
O'farrell describes this story as a description of "Wherever You Go and Why We Need It."
"For Agnes, it contained incredible strength and incredible tenderness and incredible cruelty and living in that space and loving and hurting," Buckley said.
A recent mother herself, Buckley said she believes that "mothers contain multitudes."
"I don't have a process. I'm not interested in acting, I want to be where I am... I want to be fully present in the bodies and unconscious minds of the people I'm playing, so I can learn about a world I don't know."
Buckley and Mescal said the film touches on such a human element that everyone will take something from it."This movie reminded me of what a story is and the journey you take," Buckley said.
The couple is struggling to portray the life of a character who is also the master of the theater.
