Two men, aged 38 and 57, were arrested by the Federal Police (PF) representative of Interpol in Minas Gerais when they disembarked on Friday from a flight of deportees from the United States at Confines Airport in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte. Night Fair (10).
The miners were internationally wanted and on Interpol’s arrest list. The 38-year-old was sentenced to three years and four months in prison by a Metabaguri court in the Rio Dos region. He had been on the run since 2010 when his in-laws took over his card and withdrew money from his bank account.
The other prisoner, 57 years old, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison by the Minas Gerais Court of Governor Valladares in the Rio Dos region. According to federal police, he used a Brazilian passport with a false US consular visa.
Both were detained on US soil by US immigration for not complying with the country’s immigration regulations. Upon landing in Brazilian territory, they were subjected to a corpus delicti examination and taken to the Nelson Hungary prison complex where they would face justice.
